"Consultant to Li Ka Shing Foundation for inspection of the Joint Influenza Research Facility of Shantou University and University of Hong Kong, Shantou, China (a BSL-3 facility)"

Tony Della-Porta reviewed the BSL-3 facility and provided a report stating recommendations on how best to bring the facility up to standards that will allow safe research of bird flu.

A training course was also run by Bio2ic for the staff working in the facility, to ensure that they have the knowledge to work safely in a BSL-3 environment.

"Consultants to WHO for assistance to China Centre for Disease Control, Beijing, in the development of process for gathering information about BSL-2 laboratories in China and for provision of biosafety advice"

We assisted WHO to develop a process for gathering information about BSL-2 laboratories in China, provided biosafety advice and run a private training course to ensure that the staff working and maintaining the laboratories have the knowledge to work safely in a high containment laboratory environment.
