From 2001, Tony Della-Porta has been instrumental in the creation of an International Virus Database as a member of the Committee (ICTVdB). The Committee aims to create an international database of isolates held in laboratories world wide for collaboration purposes.
The Committee has had to overcome issues of funding, collecting data on select agents and the safe housing of the data, as well as an effective and efficient means of sharing the data.
